Sign up now for Tarot Symbolism with Stuart Südekum
On October 1st, 2016, Stuart Südekum will begin a new session of his nineteen-week, college level course on Tarot Symbolism. These lessons are designed to arm students with the knowledge required to interpret the emblems of the Rider-Waite-Smith Tarot.
More than an instruction on divination, this is a general introduction to the vocabulary of images you will encounter in the wider world of the western mystical tradition. No prior knowledge of mythology, meditation, or the occult is required to enroll. However, you will have an easier time if you are comfortable with lecture-style learning. Outside reading will be assigned, and there will be quizzes and a final exam.
Class size will be limited to twelve people. Classes will meet at Tarot Society Reading Room and Gallery on Saturday mornings from 11:00 am to 2:00 pm.
Stuart Südekum is a writer and educator currently residing in Brooklyn, New York. He is the co-founder of Feast of Fools, an educational event series on the art and science of mysticism. He has lectured on the western esoteric tradition for a number of organizations and institutions, including the New York School of Visual Arts (SVA), Morbid Anatomy Museum, and the SeattleEsoteric Book Conference. His writing has appeared in periodicals such as Clavis Journal and Heathen Harvest, and he is presently preparing an annotated edition of Waite’s seminal "Pictorial Key to the Tarot." He is one of our most sought after tarot readers.

“Taking Stuart’s class is easily one of the best decisions I’ve made in recent memory. Intellectually and personally challenging, rigorous, and deep. ”
“The amount of time and research Stuart has put into this class is truly astounding. If you really want to know what the Rider Waite tarot is about, taking this class is essential.”
"It's a college-level art history class on Waite's tarot. You will learn things in this class that you will never learn anywhere else. Stuart has literally written the book on the subject. It will change the way you see tarot."
